SECONDARY NEWS

  • ATTENDANCE - Traffic is difficult for everybody in the city. Please make the necessary arrangements so your child arrives to school before 7:55 am.

  • BLOGS – we remind all parents and students to check the blogs every Monday (preferably) in order to be informed of the week’s content.

  • HOMEWORK CALENDAR – is a very useful tool to keep track of homework, quizzes and tests, etc. The homework calendar is located within every blog.

  • ENGRADEPRO – check accounts frequently to monitor progress

  • COMMUNICATION - If there is an issue that you wish to discuss regarding the blogs, the homework calendar, and/or Engrade, please send an  email to Ms. Gloria (gpalacios@discoveryschool.edu.hn)

  • STUDENT ABSENCES - If your child is sick, please send an email to Ms. Gloria so she can excuse your child and inform all teachers.

  • BAKE SALE - The Junior class will have a bake sale on Tuesday, November 21 in order to raise funds for their upcoming community service.


SCHOOL COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  • BASKET OF GOODS FOR SUPPORT PERSONNEL - It is always the season to open our hearts and share with those around us that need it most. It has been a tradition at Discovery School for students to come together and contribute in assembling baskets of goods for our support personnel.  We are asking for your cooperation in sending the following:
Nursery/Pre Kinder and 6th grade 1 5-lb bag of beans
Kinder and 7th grade students 1 5 lb bag of rice
1st grade and 8th grade students 1 5-lb bag of sugar
2nd grade and 9th grade students 1 bottle or 2 bags of oil, 2 boxes of   
                                                                margarine, OR 3 lbs of lard
3rd grade and 10th grade students 1 4lb-bag of MASECA
4th grade and 11th grade students 3 lbs of spaghetti (six packages) OR 1  
                                                                bag of coffee
5th grade and 12th grade students 4 packages of tomato paste

Please feel free to send any additional goodies that you want to share with our devoted staff, such as canned goods, instant soups, cookies and crackers, or anything else that does not require refrigeration.

Please send these items no later than Friday, December 1. Your cooperation will be deeply appreciated.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  • FUNDACION ABRIGO - provides lodging for families from outside Tegucigalpa who bring patients to Hospital Escuela. Discovery School has been a partner in solidarity with Fundacion Abrigo for the past years. We are asking for a donation of 1 gallon of disinfectant. Please send us your donation per family by Tuesday, October 31.
