·         PUNCTUALITY – Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. promptly every day. Students are expected to arrive before 8:00 am every day. There is a warning bell at 7:55 a.m. and any student who is not in class by 8:00 a.m. is considered tardy. When students arrive early to school, they can organize their lockers and materials, they can turn in their homework, they can socialize, and they can also seek teachers for assistance. When they arrive late to school, they get stressed out, classes are interrupted, and they miss important information provided at the beginning of the class. We kindly request your assistance in this matter.

·         ENGRADEPRO FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS (grades 6 – 12): Please contact Ms. Gloria via phone (9561-1434) or email (gpalacios@discoveryschool.edu.hn) so she can share your child’s information to access the account. Students will receive the information either from their teachers or from her.
o   After you get your username and password, login to www.engradepro.com
o   You may change the password but you may not change the username
o   We strongly recommend you check Engradepro periodically so you can monitor your child’s academic performance.

·         SECONDARY FIELD TRIPS (grades 6, 7, 8, and 11) – letters/permission slips regarding the field trips were sent home with the students on Monday, September 5. The deadline to send the permission slip back to school with your signature and the initial payment is Monday, October 31. If you need further information regarding the field trips, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Gloria.

·         PARENTS VOLUNTEERING FOR SECONDARY FIELD TRIPS – as a result of the Secondary Town Hall Meeting, two (2) parents per grade level will be selected to chaperone the field trips. All parents who wish to volunteer please contact Dr. Ketterer and/or Ms. Gloria. The final decision will be made by Dr. Ketterer.

·         FUNDACION ABRIGO – Is an organization which provides lodging for families from outside Tegucigalpa who bring their families/patients to the largest state medical facility, Hospital Escuela. Discovery School in solidarity with Fundacion Abrigo is asking for a donation of 1 GALON OF DISINFECTANT per family by Friday, October 28. Thank you very much! It is always far better to give than to receive!

·         BAKE SALE - The Juniors will be having a Bake Sale on Friday, September 23, in order to raise funds for their upcoming Community Service Project.

·         BLOGS – we remind all parents and students to check the blogs every Monday (preferably) in order to be informed of the week’s content.
·         HOMEWORK CALENDAR – is a very useful tool to keep track of homework, quizzes and tests, etc. The homework calendar is located within every blog.

·         STUDENT COUNCIL – STUCO representatives will have their first meeting on Tuesday, September 6 @ 11:00 in the Conference Room. They will meet with Dr Ketterer to discuss important issues about their student life.
·         MEETING WITH 9th & 10th GRADE PARENTS – Ms. Gloria will be meeting with 9th & 10th grade parents in the Conference Room on Wednesday, September 7 @ 8:00.
·         MIDTERM – Thursday, September 8.
·         ABSH ATHLETIC LEADERSHIP RETREAT – Ms Yery will be taking a group of students to a leadership retreat. The theme of the retreat is “I am a Leader and I believe in Sportsmanship”. The event will take place on September 9 – 11.
·         PROGRESS REPORTS – will go home on Wednesday, September 14. Please read and discuss the report with your child and then send it back to school with your signature.
